DISCO CITY is a bespoke installation created especially for Southend LuminoCity by It's All Done With Mirrors.

Radiance, our installation for the inaugural LuminoCity last year was about personal nostalgia  -with a re-imagining of the illuminated cliff gardens of Never Never Land, but it resonated so much with so many people, it made us think about collective nostalgia....

Disco City is a celebration of all the ballrooms, dance halls and nightclubs of Southend and the surrounding area... starting with the Kursaal Ballroom up to the present day.

What better way to remember and celebrate nightclubs than with a giant mirror ball! One of the oldest and best loved lighting effects around! Installed under the Observation Tower Footbridge and with live DJs to supply not only club classics but also a few surprises!

DJ, writer and presenter Daryl Easlea is the founder and one quarter of Middle Age Spread, grown up disco for those unafraid to dance. He has DJed at festivals, launches and events across the UK & Europe, but playing under an enormous mirrorball on Southend City Seafront as part of LuminoCity has got to be the sparkling highlight of his life. Working closely with the installation creator Andy Barak Smith, Daryl will play a history of Southend's music amid a selection of traditional Saturday nite bangers.
